Light As A Feather

>> Tuesday, January 12, 2010

I had the urge to pick up my 'lil Dumplin the other day, and she willingly jumped into my arms for a standing, rocking back-n-forth snuggle.

"Wow," I said, "For a girl whose almost ten, you sure are light as a feather."

She popped her head up from my shoulder and looked at me through her crooked glasses. "Aw mom, I'm getting bigger. Can't I be light as two feathers?"

What a precious moment from my baby whose ready to grow up. And I get her. Because deep down in my heart, I want to be more grown up in my Father's eyes too.

Lord, make me more mature. Make me stronger. Through the working power of the Holy Spirit in me, make me light as two feathers, Father. I want to grow, and as I do, may I be more like You.

Love this post, Laura! It's so good to have them in our arms for just a while, even. God must feel the same. ( :

I love this post, Laura Lee! God bless you for aharing this "very special moment" between mom and daughter. I've had similar moments with my 3 girls - and now with granddaughter, age 3 1/2, and my grandson, age 1 1/2.

My daughter is ten too; I know exactly what you mean. They are on the brink of growing up and it's hard to believe.

I wanted to thank you for your comment on my (In) Courage post. I truly appreciated the encouragement. Have a great day!
